Living Donor Protection Act

Transplant Families strongly supports the federal Living Donor Protection Act of 2023 (H.R. 2923 and S. 1384), which would ensure critical job protections for living organ donors and certify that insurance companies cannot decline or limit specific insurance coverage due to their status as a living organ donor. Many pediatric recipients have caregivers (parents or other close family members) that give their gift of life in the form of living donation. It is especially crucial that these caregivers can maintain job protections in that those are usually the primary means of medical insurance to the recipient.
