Donations are being sought to help pay for a liver transplant for a 4-year-old Redondo Beach girl. Volunteers are attempting to raise $50,000 through the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) to help defray transplant-related expense for the family of Rainy Reimer, who has been diagnosed with Alagille Syndrome. She is the daughter of James Reimer and Windy Morrisey.
Doctors at UCLA Medical Center have recommended a life-saving liver transplant for Rainy. COTA is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. According to COTA, the cost of a transplant can exceed $500,000.
Donations may be mailed to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, 2501 West COTA Drive, Bloomington, Indiana, 47403. Checks or money orders should be made payable to COTA, with “In Honor of Rainy R” written on the memo line of the check. Secure credit card donations are also accepted online at www.COTAforRainyR.com.
Volunteers are needed to assist with fundraising activities that will help with transplant-related expenses. Individuals and groups interested in more information can contact Community Coordinator Shauna Smith at (310) 626.7572 or by email at angelmessenger02@gmail.com.
