Caregiver to a Liver Transplant Recipient
Jen Lau joined Transplant Families in 2019. Her oldest son is a liver transplant recipient from a living donor and received his gift at just 9 months old. Jen is the Co-Founder and President of BARE (Biliary Atresia Research and Education) and has extensive volunteer experience in pediatric transplant. She currently sits on Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) Board of Directors and Expeditious Task Force. In the past, she served on the Pediatric Committee championing causes such as the liver geographic redistribution policies giving children priority on the transplant list. She served as Chair and is a current member of the Patient and Families Engaged Partners of SPLIT (Society for Pediatric Liver Transplantation), and is on the Siragusa Transplant Center Board at Ann & Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She has collaborated with organizations such as the Starzl Network for Excellence in Pediatric Transplantation and the Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network (ACTION), to work on quality improvement projects that help amplify the parent voice to help shape the future of medical care. Jen’s professional background is in Human Resources.
