Trinity Lazo, 3, from Ranlo was in a Cincinnati hospital for several months due to a condition where the tissue in her heart enlarges.

She received a heart transplant on Valentine’s Day 2013.

On Sunday she surprised her church pastor and members of the Grace Baptist Church congregation with a visit.

Trinity’s mother, Monica, says the special update service was a way to educate people on the importance of organ donations. Currently, statistics show more than 1,700 pediatric patients are on a waiting list.

Monica Lazo says a fever back in November quickly turned critical after learning her daughter had Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Doctors gave her little hope for survival. Trinity suffered a series of massive blood clots followed by seizures that left her paralyzed on one side of her body.

Her family spent months at a hospital in Cincinnati for treatment.

In January, Trinity was placed on the heart transplant list and on Valentine’s Day she received a token of love from another family.

“The church here has supported us so well for so long that we wanted to be able to give back,” Monica Lazo said.

Trinity was greeted with a standing ovation and a hug from the pastor who calls the little girl a living miracle.

“The biggest thing we want people to know is many people thing organ donation is only for adults..I am here to tell you there are many many kids, families we have met that are currently waiting on the transplant list that desperately needs organs,” Lazo said.
