COLUMBUS, Ohio – A baby, who has spent every day of his young life in a hospital awaiting transplants, is beginning his path to recovery.

Julian Couch’s parents, Melanie and Tyler, received the call that a set of lungs became available on Sunday.

The lungs were the right size and blood type. He needed the transplant because his lungs failed to produce a protein to keep them working.

The lungs, which were located out of town, were flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and were given to Julian late in the day Sunday.

Julian currently is in critical condition at the hospital.
