LAKE CITY  —  A benefit supper and cake auction is scheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, for Andrew “Drew” Phillips, a 17-year-old who needs a kidney transplant.

The supper will be held at Clinch River Baptist Church, 404 Cane Creek Road, Lake City. The country cooking buffet will start at 5 p.m. and the cake auction will be held at 7 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and children ages 11 and under eat free.

Drew attends Clinch River Community School, located behind Anderson County High School in Clinton. He was diagnosed with a kidney disease called Hereditary Nephritis when he was 3 and now needs a kidney transplant, according to information from the benefit’s organizers.

Drew and his family travel to Knoxville several times a week for treatment. The family needs help with traveling expenses and food during his treatments.

“Drew is a sweet-hearted boy with a lot of positive outlook,” organizers stated in the information submitted to the newspaper. “He loves video games, four wheeling and working on cars. His favorite TV show is ‘Top Gear.’”

Any donations at the supper are appreciated. In addition, a bank account has been set up under the name of “Andrew Phillips” at ORNL Federal Credit Union. For more information on the supper, call Pearl Phillips at (865) 457-8736.
