Half of the H3N2 viruses analyzed in this season are what are known as “drift variants” – viruses with antigenic or genetic changes that may make the virus less responsive to vaccination.
According to the latest figures from the CDC’s flu surveillance report, the flu season is at the epidemic level threshold, with 15 flu-related deaths reported among children.
