Toddler who had heart transplant comes home to New Castle | Fox 59 News – fox59.com

A Henry County boy who got a new heart came home Tuesday.

Caleb Kinnaird was born with tricuspid atresia. The heart defect left him missing a key valve, meaning only half of his heart worked.

In late September, Caleb—after 11 months of waiting—received a new heart. He had his final appointment Tuesday at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and was cleared to return home to New Castle.

An informal homecoming celebration greeted Caleb and his family Tuesday evening. Friends and family members met them at State Road 3 and Bundy Road to welcome them back.

Caleb’s mother has been keeping track of the family’s journey through her blog, Caleb’s Heart.
