Welsh nurses use pedal power to raise transplant awareness | This is South Wales

South Wales Evening Post

WELSH nurses are turning to pedal power next week to raise awareness of National Transplant Week.

The medics — lead by Phil Walton from Swansea and Jo Davies from Brecon — will be touring hospitals around the country in a 390-mile two-wheeled challenge, which starts on Monday.

As part of their cycle trek they will be visiting Morriston Hospital on July 9.

Transplant week — which starts on July 8 — will also see the Welsh Government’s Heart to Heart road show touring the country, including the Tesco store Neath Abbey Tesco on the afternoon of July 9.

Mrs Davies, who is married to the Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, John Davies, said: “With three people dying every day waiting for an organ transplant we are obviously aware of the need to encourage more people to join the organ donor register and make their wishes known to their families.”
