A fundraiser for a Jefferson toddler in need of a heart transplant is being held Saturday at the University of Georgia Livestock Arena, 2598 S. Milledge Ave. in Athens.
One-year-old Jax Mariotti is in need of a new heart. His aunt, Shalon Huff, is organizing the benefit to help with expenses associated with medical needs.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a live auction at 10 a.m. featuring donated gifts such as handmade picnic tables, gift baskets, hunting trips, golfing excursions and overnight stays.
There will also be a hamburger lunch for $5 per plate.
Huff said all the items, including the venue, have been donated by individuals and businesses in the Athens area.
The event will include concessions, an inflatable play area for children and more.
Huff said all the money donated will be for long-term medical expenses associated with the transplant.
There is no charge to attend the event. Huff said she hopes to raise at least $5,000.
Lunch tickets must be purchased prior to the event by visiting www.facebook.com/#!/prayers4Jax or emailing sth1716@yahoo.com.
Monetary donations can be mailed to The Commercial Bank, P.O. Box 306, Crawford, GA 30630. Make checks out to Jax Mariotti.
