In the future of heart care, physicians will implant devices into a patient’s failing heart to let the heart rest and recover.
The reality is only decades away, and is the next stage of innovation that doctors will discuss at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on Thursday during a celebration of New England’s first heart transplant, which took place at the hospital 30 years prior.
In an interview with the Boston Business Journal, Dr. Mandeep Mehra, medical director of the Heart and Vascular Center at Brigham and Women’s, talks about where we were, how far we’ve come, and what the future has to hold.
