Updated: Sep 7, 2021

For the complete updated document please go to the PIDS website.

ACTION Learning Network has brought us easily distributable infographics to accompany this handout.

Full versions of all documents are at the bottom of the page. Please visit the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society ( and ACTION Learning Network for the most up-to-date versions of these documents. Our sincerest thanks go out as families and caregivers to pediatric recipients, to all of the pediatric transplant societies and clinicians that have, and are, continually working on this effort. For families, we continue to be in awe of you and your children's bravery during this time. If you or your child feel any stress related to this topic, please bring this up with your transplant team psychologist or social worker. They can help.

These documents are meant to aid in conversation as a parent and caregiver of a pediatric transplant recipient in discussions with your transplant team, your child's and their siblings' school administration, teachers, and nurses. ALWAYS discuss pertinent actions for your child's care with their transplant team first. Full PDF versions of the document are available at the bottom of the post.
