TAMPA (FOX 13) – The greatest gift of all is beating inside Tane’a Valery’s chest.
The 14-year-old’s life changed at the start of 2015 when doctors at All Children’s Hospital performed a heart transplant.
“The journey has been hard, but with God’s help it’s been easy,” said Tane’a’s mother, Tamara Todman.
Tane’a’s heart began failing quickly just after Christmas, and she immediately went on the transplant waiting list.
In miraculous time, a donor match was found on January 3rd.
“I don’t know who they are, where they are from, but I am just so blessed,” said Tane’a, as she was undergoing an exam to see how her new heart is performing.
Her doctor could not be more pleased with the results.
Dr. Gul Dadlani said Tane’a was born with an abnormal protein in her heart that caused it to weaken and enlarge.
