FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) A happy homecoming. One two year old whose been through quite a lot these past couple of months is finally home.
Two years old and little Gage Mosley has already been through more than some people ever will. “He has Nephrotic Syndrome, FSGS, and tumor on his left kidney. While he was there, they removed both of his kidneys. He is now dialysis dependent until he gets a transplant,” says Brittany Howell, Gage’s mother.
After a little over two months at UK Children’s Hospital, Gage was finally able to come home. Family friends say he’s been quite the little trooper. “Just wonderful. When he came home the other day he was escorted by fire trucks and everything. When he got out of the vehicle he had the biggest smile ever and that was just priceless.” says Susan Shepherd, Howell’s friend.
Sunday, friends and family continue to celebrate his homecoming with a gathering at Pine Grove Church. Gage’s mother says they’re taking things one day at a time, as he continues dialysis treatments three times a week. “There was a time in July where we didn’t know if he was going to make it or not, and its been rough,” says Howell.
Gage’s next step is finding a kidney match.
