Inaugural Transplant Hero Awards – Finalists
Honoring Outstanding Medical Professionals in the Transplant Community
DENVER, May 19, 2014 – American Transplant Foundation announced today the finalists for the Inaugural Transplant Angel Awards, a national event recognizing transplant medical professionals for their outstanding personal and professional commitment to patient advocacy, support and empowerment that ultimately leads to a lifesaving transplant.
Awards will be granted for the top two finalists in following categories:
Category 1 Finalists (Transplant Coordinators)
Carmen Nolan, Living Donor Coordinator/Advocate, University Transplant Center, University of Texas at San Antonio Health Services
Diane Dovel, Transplant Coordinator, Children’s Hospital Colorado
Christine Fricke, Financial Coordinator, University of Michigan
Paula Bigwood, Transplant Coordinator, UMass Memorial Medical Center
Patricia McDonough, Living Donor Transplant Coordinator, Montefiore Hospital
Category 2 Finalists (Medical Professionals) Nominees are eligible, but not limited, to living donor advocates, surgeons, social workers, nephrologists, and dietitians.
Dr. John Powelson MD, Transplant Surgeon, Indiana University Health
Ray Gabel, Community & Professional Education Coordinator, St. Luke’s Hospital
Dr. Robert Montgomery, MD, Transplant Surgeon, John Hopkins Hospital
Dr. Hugo Rosen MD, FACP, Head, Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, University of Colorado Hospital
Susanne Hollister, Social Worker, University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview
The Transplant Angel Awards will take place on July 15, 2014 at the closing ceremony of the Transplant Games of America in Houston, TX. The awards will be presented by the Foundation and Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Founding Sponsor of the awards.
